Local name reported in 1904 by H. C. Fasset, U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF); named Clara Marie Bay in 1901 by A. H. Brooks, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), after his launch (Brooks, 1902, fig. 5).
