History

Named "Bocas de Arriaga," or "Arriaga Passage" by Francisco Antonio Maurelle "about August 22 or 23, 1779, no doubt in honor of Juan Pantoja y Arriaga, one of his pilots" (Wagner, 1937, p. 373).
