On this World Water Day, we’d like to highlight the cool things being done by PlayPumps.org. Their innovative approach to solving clean water problems in Africa caught our eye. Thanks to the support of donors, they help provide a merry-go-round type play structure for kids in communities and schools. This merry-go-round is more than just for fun though, as kids play on it, the turning motion draws water from clean underground sources, pumping it out for all to use. Today, PlayPumps.org launched their “100 Pumps in 100 Days” campaign to coincide with World Water Day, in an attempt to raise enough in the next 100 days to provide 100 African communities with clean drinking water. Bravo. Props also go out to rap star Jay-Z who has been teaming up with the United Nations and MTV to help bring awareness to the water problem in Africa.
