On most days we are 5 stories up, above railroad tracks, in view of the river and downtown Portland. This afternoon we had a new view.
We were able to watch this fire within moments of it starting.
Our new system administrator who started a couple of weeks ago, Mike Sisk, brought in a huge camera and luckily he didn’t take it home yesterday. Jon Farr used the camera to take this image. Check out his Flickr account for more.

Rushing sirens and billowing smoke had me concerned and wondering.
I drove by the spot this morning, it was the Empire Rubber building…
Scary. o_o.
