What if you had five minutes on stage to say whatever you wanted? With 20 slides shown for 15 seconds each, what could you convey? That’s the essence of Ignite, an event that has been drawing rapt crowds of geeks all around the world.

Our own Ignite in Portland is one of most popular and active Ignites, for good reason. The awesome folks at the Legion of Tech have put on a seriously good event at the Bagdad time after time. Several of last year’s Igniters were even invited to give their talks at the Gnomedex conference in Seattle.

Here’s the promising line-up of thirteen talks we’ll get to see this year:

* Five Things Portland Can Learn From Kentucky in Five Minutes – Jeff Hardison
* A Short Introduction to Cyborg Anthropology – Amber Case
*
Spirituality in Community: It’s not just for religion anymore – David Kominsky
* How to Bluff Your Way Through Life or a 5 Minute Presentation – Cami Kaos
* Cooking with the Seasons: The Garanimals Method – Katherine Gray
* Dating Rules for the Actual World – Alexis Rehrmann
* Story as Bloodsport: Battling to craft narrative – Melissa Lion
* How To Make People Think You’re a Portlander – Without Actually Living in the State of Oregon – Carolynn Duncan
* 7 One-Night Stands with a Baseball Fan – Nova Newcomer
* Divided We Win: 5 Reasons Why FOX News is Saving Our Media and Democracy – Abraham Hyatt
* Juice Up any Conversation or Presentation with 5 Impressive-Sounding Theories that Apply to EVERYTHING – Eric Anderson
* How to get people to do what you want them to do… – Betsy Richter
* 10 Karaoke Commandments – Alex Williams

Looks like good stuff, huh? AboutUs has a sponsored Ignite in years past, and we’re happier than ever to be able to with Ignite Portland 4. However, we can’t do it alone, and it is still in need of more sponsors. Please consider supporting one of the best free events our fair city has to offer.
