Hey folks. Thought I’d give you a quick and dirty about the problems we’re currently having with this weblog. Instead of bothering our sysadmins and developers with the potential security issues of them giving us the keys to this weblog, we installed a fresh wordpress 2.7 on another (temporary) domain. We then copied over all the visual and sidebar customizations (we thought), and then had them switch the DNS, or whatever magic they have to do to make blog.AboutUs.org refer to this new 2.7 install, on a different server. Crash. Didn’t work and we were down for more than 12 hours. Nice, huh? Well, they fixed that, and all seemed well. Except that some of our images are missing. Did we mess up the export/import? Maybe. What about comments? Seems like there are missing comments. Not sure. How to tell? Not sure. So here we are. We’ll be seeing if we can get the images from the old install over the weekend. Could be we’ll be practicing zen instead, the art of letting go. In the meantime, feel free to try out our new Facebook Connect plugin that allows you to comment here with your Facebook account. We seem to have broken that, too. Enjoy!
