New DomainBox on AboutUs!

by Tak Kendrick on 25 January 2009

domainboxLast week we replaced our “domain box” which provides useful information about any of the over 10,000,000 domains we have articles on with a sleek new design.

The new “retro” box actually harkens back to a look we featured for over a year when we launched back in 2006.

The new box features collapsable information including:

  • a thumbnail of the website/domain
  • links and info on the registrar for the domain
  • a map (if available)
  • specialized badges that added by community members and AboutUs staff to delineate special content/information like other wikis, our PortlandTech articles, and articles built using our SpotlightUs service
  • While the the new DomainBox is now live on most pages, it will take awhile to replicate throughout all of our pages.

If for some reason, you see the old, clunky box on an article, try editing the page and then saving it. That should reload the cache for the article. Pages with custom DomainBoxes will have to be updated by hand, feel free to give it a try or ContactUs for assistance.
