RecentChangesCamp 2009 Recap

by Steven Walling on 27 February 2009

RCC09AboutUs was really fortunate to play a part in bringing RecentChangesCamp, the wiki unconference, to Portland this year. Roughly a hundred people from all over the U.S. and the globe were able to come to the University Place Hotel to talk wiki and have fun.

All the other sponsors of RCC 09 — wikiHow, Portland State University, PeopleBrowsr, and those who contributed through PayPal — deserve a huge thanks for making the conference happen, especially during financially worrisome times such as these. In addition to contributing financially, wikiHow went the extra mile this year by helping us host the first RCC how-to party at our offices on Saturday evening. You can search Flickr for some great photos of both the unconference sessions and the party.

RCC has left us feeling reconnected to the larger world of collaborative methods and technologies, allowing us all to take that broadened perspective back to our work. We learned tons about all the amazing projects our friends in the wiki community are up to these days. Just a tiny portion of the developments that we got a chance to witness or participate in this year include:

If you’re interested in getting a feel for the topics of conversation at RCC 2009, I strongly suggest you browse through the session notes we took. Thank you again to everyone who participated!
