In January we launched two new features — summaries and topics — which laid the groundwork for a significant new addition to AboutUs. Now it’s beta testing time. Are you game to give it a try?
The goal is to create meaningful lists of websites relating to specific subjects. These lists become a collaborative source of information about websites that matter. Using the topics which have been added as tags to thousands/millions of AboutUs pages, our algorithm aims to place the best sites on top. These lists can be curated by adding summaries to sites in the list, adjusting the tags, and touching up the relevant wiki pages.
Several AboutUs staff are working on lists of interest to them, from Ruby on Rails to Portland startups and even swing dancing. Now, we would like some avid beta testers to dive in and try it out. If there’s a topic that you’re passionate about, we’d love to give you a the platform to create a great list.
For a rundown on how to edit and build a list, email Mark@AboutUs.org for more details on becoming one of the first AboutUs List Keepers.
