wiki wiki martWorking on a newsletter for our community to highlight tips and tricks for using AboutUs pages to your advantage, we’ve drummed up a great list of wiki tips.

But the batch of ideas we generated are very specific to the content, style and structure of AboutUs. That’s great, but we also need something for those needing broader advice about how to operate in the wiki space.

Wiki workers of the world, we’d like to hear your favorite strategies for getting things done. What are the general suggestions would you make to people diving in to seriously edit a page they care about? What value of working together on a wiki do you feel is most important for newbies? Do you have a geeky wiki technique you love to share?

We love wikis because — in a healthy community — you can rest assured that there is someone out there seeing your work, ready to lend a helping hand. The same is true for the community of wikis at large, and we’d like to get your perspective on what you’d tell someone on a quest to improve a wiki page.

I like where this is going :D

I’m not exactly sure what tips you’re looking for but, when making summeries it’s great to actually look into the website. Don’t just take one look and write the summery. Another advantage of this is, you might find a website you really like by taking a proper look at it. Remember things aren’t always as they appear…

JarredB, great idea and one that’s in the direction we’re going, which is to be able to work with the microsummary and tags while browsing the site for which you are writing the summary.
