The AboutUs Buzz: December Edition

by Steven Walling on 21 December 2009

At AboutUs we enjoy keeping track of the bloggers who are kind enough to mention us, and we’d like to share with you some of the highlights from December. With 2010 rapidly approaching, the following links are a great cross section of the sort of people who have used AboutUs in the last year.

AboutUs for SEO

First off (really, it was on the first of December) we were included as one of nine SEO tips for holiday ecommerce. As the post points out, a little work on your AboutUs page goes a long way towards getting your site the Google juice it needs.

Agile Deployment at AboutUs

On a different note, we were pleased to read a December 13th post by software developer Sarah Allen recapping the discussion of Agile scalability at the EngineYard Road Show.

AboutUs was used in a presentation by Bill Lapcevic of New Relic as an example of the application of agile thinking to deployment. Bill quoted CTO Ward Cunningham’s thoughts about the advantages of doing many smaller deployments, often several a day.

AboutUs for Geeks

Next up was a mention in the Geeks.Pirillo.com forum on the 15th, where Dan Cook asked Have you checked out AboutUs.org? The site is a community for geeks to share news, reviews and how-to tips, and be sure to check it out if you want to connect with some of the smartest people on the Web.

AboutUs for Marketers

On the 16th we got to read a great overview of Using AboutUs.org As Your First Backlink Source. Aimed at online marketers, the post went over how you can use an AboutUs page to promote your business and get some link love.

AboutUs on Reddit

Many people link to us as a quick reference guide for a website. We see a lot of these appear every month, but it was especially cool to see Redditors using AboutUs to describe the humor site Zombo.com.
