AboutUs and Tesla Motors – Geeks Go Gaga for Green Sports Car

by Suzi Ziegler on 16 August 2010

You never know who you’ll meet on the road. During a recent layover in Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, I chatted with a gentleman about the Tesla Roadster, the world’s first and fastest green sports car. It turned out the gent is a marketing consultant for Tesla Motors. We exchanged cards.

Returning to the office, I found an emailed invitation to meet the Roadster in Portland the following week.

Last week, my AboutUs co-workers and I shared the privilege of viewing the Tesla Roadster up close and personal. What we experienced was a tribute to mechanical visionaries everywhere. We were all impressed by the engineering and wowed by the design!

The Roadster offers speed with safety and style. What sets it apart from other luxury sports cars is its limited use of petroleum products — only the tires are made from the stuff. Tesla has made a total commitment to driving excitement without harm to the environment. The result is a remarkably fast car with no clutch, no noise and no pollution.

Unlike gasoline-fueled engines, the Tesla Roadster runs exclusively on electricity. In fact, the Roadster produces zero emissions and needs a charge only every 245 miles. It can charge from most electrical outlets, anywhere in the world. And talk about torque! The Tesla Roadster leaves its gas-guzzling competition in the dust.
