AboutUs’ new bot

by Kristina Weis on 22 July 2009

Our developers have been working on a new bot to create pages for sites that don’t yet exist in the AboutUs.org guide to websites.

Earlier this month we turned it on!

The new bot creates pages that are a bit different than most of the pages in our system which were created by the old bot.  Our hope is that the new pages–which have more widgetized and form-based sections–are easier to edit.

What do you think?  Here’s a page just created by the new bot and one created by the old bot.

We’re still working to make our new bot and the pages it creates better, and if you have any thoughts we’d love to hear your feedback.

Hi – I´ve already added a few sites to the aboutus.org wiki and I absolutely like that a logo can be added with the new but – the only thing missing is that for erlebe-griechenland.de the bot completely misspelled the name it looks a bit like this:
erLEbE-GrieCHenLanD.dE

Can this be changed?

Hello Irmel. Yes, that CamelCaseCapitalization can absolutely be changed. (Our bot tries to guess the right the first letters of the words in the domain name to capitalize to make it easier to read, but it’s hit and miss.) See http://www.aboutus.org/CamelCaseCapitalization for instructions and let me/us know if you have any other questions.
