Gutenberg.org — Project Gutenberg is a repository of over 19,000 free books and other materials in electronic formats. The vast majority of their catalog lies in the public domain — the U.S. copyright has expired and you are free to download, make copies, or generally fold, mutilate and spindle. For writers and other artists, this is a playground for found art, poetic reductions, cut-ups or such projects. For readers, it’s just a great way to get a copy of Frankenstein without going to a bookstore. For information about copyright license and trademark information check out their AboutUs page.
